The Fourth SHARE Policy Dialogue “Towards a Shared Understanding of Quality Assurance in ASEAN" on 26-27 October 2016, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

On October 26, 2016 RADM Wachara Karunyavanij, ONESQA Deputy Director and the President of ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN) attended the Fourth SHARE Policy Dialogue entitled “Towards a Shared Understanding of Quality Assurance in ASEAN” organised by the European Union (EU) Support to Higher Education in ASEAN Region (SHARE) Programmein Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The conference was held to raise awareness for the importance of quality assurance for harmonization of higher education, facilitate a better understanding of regional QA standards and their relevance for national QA systems, and discuss about the ASEAN Quality Assurance Framework (AQAF) with relevant stakeholders etc.

The first day started with the Launching Ceremony for the ASEAN Quality Assurance Network as an accredited entity associated with the ASEAN Secretariat witnessed by H.E. Datuk Dr Mary Yap Kain Ching, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Malaysia, H.E. Vongthep Arthakaivalvatee, ASEAN Deputy Secretary General for the ASEAN Socio–Cultural Community, H.E. Francisco Fontan, EU Ambassador to ASEAN, and RADM Wachara Karunyavanij, the President of AQAN. Subsequent programme included the informative sharing sessions on the Regionalization of Higher Education, Role of Regional Quality Assurance Frameworks and Implementing the AQAF.

On October 27, 2016, the conference was concluded with the fruitful panel discussions on University Graduates for the ASEAN Community, and the Role of Stakeholders and Regional Organizations for implementing AQAF. The two-day event brought together 130 participants from external quality assurance agencies, government agencies, universities, and stakeholders from ASEAN Member States and the EU.
