19 – 23 February 2024, Germany
A long-standing partnership exists between ONESQA and ASIIN e.V. towards a strategic partnership.
ASIIN e.V. (the Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics) is a non-profit association founded in July 1999. Over the past decade, it has provided expert support to German and international universities in the implementation of accreditation procedures on institutional and programme levels.
To underpin the cooperation, in July last year, the two organizations signed the most current Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to further cooperation. This signing was really substantial for ONESQA, as it seeks to enhance the assessment method internationally as well as develop a broad spectrum of alternatives that address vocational education.
Acting Chairperson of the Vocational Board, Mr. Wanit Uamsri, along with delegates from the Vocational Board and executives, were invited by ASIIN to participate in the training of reviewers to gain a deeper understanding and practical experience of institutional accreditation using ASIIN´s renowned “Maturity Model”, which isan international QA criteria equivalent to the European Higher Education Standards and Guidelines. The main objective of the training was to apply this maturity model to Thai vocational institutions by conducting a preliminary trial evaluation by 2024. In light of the trial’s evaluation and suggestions, a joint accreditation suitable for Thai vocational education will be developed.
During the rigorous training, which focused on standards & indicators and methodological, in detail regarding the accreditation procedure and the peer review principle. The ONESQA delegates were warm welcomed and trained by the ASIIN experts, Dr. Iring Wasser, Managing Director, and Dr. Siegfried Hermes, Senior Consultant.Following the training, a meeting was held to discuss the planning of an onsite visit for the selected vocational institution and the provision of a self-assessment report.
The Acting Chairperson of the Vocational Board and ONESQA delegates also took this opportunity to visit the German Accreditation Council (AKR), the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA), and the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB). During the visits, Thai delegates gained knowledge of German accreditation practices, policies, and perspectives on quality assurance in higher education, including the concepts of quality seals in digital education and dual VET in Germany
